A large-scale multi-agency emergency drill will be held at the Renton Municipal Airport Tuesday through Thursday this week.

The drill will take place from 9 a.m. to noon each day, and will include airport staff and emergency services such as fire, EMS, police and other agencies. The runways and taxiways will be closed during those times on all three days.

The Federal Aviation Administration encourages airports to test their emergency response systems with local agencies every three years to assess training needs for real airport emergencies and improve efforts between airport workers and local emergency responders.

Two mock-up airplane fuselages placed on the airfield will serve as the crash sites.

People listening to scanners may hear radio traffic from the drill and should not be alarmed.

Taxiway A3 will be closed from 6 a.m. on Tuesday until after the exercise is over and the equipment has been removed on Thursday.
