King County sheriff’s deputies say a homeowner shot and killed a burglary suspect in White Center.

Deputies were called to the 9800 block of 13th Avenue Southwest at 2:40 a.m. Monday after the homeowner called 911 to report that he heard breaking glass downstairs and believed several people were inside his home.

A short time later, while the homeowner was still on the phone with 911 and trying to hide, he fired several gunshots and killed an intruder near the bedroom.

Sgt. Ryan Abbott with the King County Sheriff’s Office said it is not known if the burglar was by himself. A K-9 unit was brought in but was unable to track another suspect.

Abbott said the homeowner is cooperating.
