Lake Tapps man pleads guilty to making child pornography

He changed his name, but he didn’t change the behavior that resulted in his status as a sex offender.
Caleb Dean Eccles, 32, was discovered sexually abusing young boys and recording the abuse on this cell phone and other electronic devices. On Friday, he pleaded guilty to the production, possession and distribution of child pornography in U.S. District Court in Tacoma.
After a 2002 conviction in Florida with 63 child pornography offenses, Eccles was sentenced to 10 years probation. He was required to register as a sex offender.
When he moved to Lake Tapps, Wash., however, he went by the name “Eckoles,” in an apparent effort to avoid being identified as a sex offender.
Eccles then volunteered to babysit for neighborhood children. In his plea agreement, he admits to using his baby-sitter status to have access to young boys, and engage in sexual behavior that he would record.
Between 2013 and 2014, Eccles shared child pornographic recordings online of a 10-year-old boy. It is also known that on two different days in February 2014, he made videos of the molestations.
Law enforcement officials, however, caught on to Eccles by monitoring a website known for trading child pornography.
