Heat to ramp up, possibly setting records in Seattle area

May 6, 2019, 10:31 AM

The start of May is just ramping up and so is the heat. Meteorologist Nick Allard says high pressure will be in total control over Western Washington, which will give us more sunshine to make things warmer in comparison to April.

Highs are expected to be in the low 70s, with the north wind gusting 20 to 25 mph on Monday.

Tuesday is expected to be about the same, with mainly sunny skies and highs in the low 70s and warming up a degree or so on Wednesday, Nick said.

With the offshore wind changing direction, the low 80s will come pushing in starting Thursday into at least Saturday with the likelihood of the Seattle area setting some records, Nick says. Some places south and away from the water could reach around 90 degrees.

However, when Mother’s Day arrives, Nick says the onshore wind will cause things to cool off, taking us back into the lower 70s.
