A man in his 60s was killed in an early morning shooting in North Seattle near Green Lake.

It happened just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on Aurora Avenue North near North 84th Street.

The man, who was shot in the chest, was responsive when medics arrived, but eventually lost consciousness and could not be revived.

Seattle police officers swarmed the area looking for the shooter. They appear to be focused on a gas station and a business across from it where the shooting may have occurred.

A motive for the killing has not been released.

Aurora Avenue North was closed at North 84th Street but has since reopened.
