Minimum wage rallies are planned across Washington state Wednesday as part of a national effort to call attention to wage inequality.

Workers in Spokane, Yakima, Pasco, Everett, Olympia and SeaTac are expected to participate. People within Seattle who do not benefit from Seattle’s $15 minimum wage law, such as Uber drivers and workers at Macy’s, are also going to participate.

“A lot of people do not think about an Uber driver, an adjunct professor, or a Macy’s worker as being poverty-wage jobs,” said Working Washington spokesperson Sage Wilson. “But the reality is those are as well and that’s why the workers are joining the fight.”

Rallies and marches will culminate in Seattle where hundreds of people are expected to gather at Seattle University for a rally at 5 p.m.
