Seven schools take precautions after violent home invasion in West Seattle

Police are searching for a man who broke into a West Seattle home and forced a woman and her 4-year-old son into the bathroom at gunpoint.

The woman called 911 around 11:30 a.m. and told police she and her boy climbed through their bathroom window and ran to the neighbor’s house for help. She said the man left her home in the 8100 block of 22nd Ave SW after stealing two purses and some prescription medications.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5’4″ with a thin build and “scruffy” facial hair. He was wearing a black Kangol hat, black jacket, dark pants and sunglasses.

Officers searched the home and neighborhood and are still working to find the suspect.

Seven schools (Sealth, Denny, West Seattle Elementary, Sanislo, Highland Park, Roxhill, Gatewood) were under a brief “shelter-in-place.”
