The emergency repairs on I-5 in Seattle were expected to wrap up before the bulk of commuters hit the road Thursday morning.

Crews from the Washington State Department of Transportation were forced to close three lanes of northbound I-5 near Olive Way as they repaired a portion of the roadway near an expansion joint.

The repairs were scheduled to be complete by 5 a.m. However, that took longer than expected.

WSDOT said the work was finished just after 6:30 a.m. The lanes remained blocked until just after 7 a.m. as crews cleaned up the area.
