Game-winning touchdown prompts near earthquake-level energy

Russell Wilson’s touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse got the needled jumping Sunday on the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network instruments embedded at CenturyLink Field.
PNSN tweeted: TOUCHDOWN @Seahawks!!! @DangeRussWilson to @chopchop_15 for a seismic signal close to a real earthquake! #QuickShake
Marshawn Lynch got the crowd hopping a few times, too, as did Doug Baldwin’s 29-yard reception and John Ryan’s 19-yard touchdown.
PNSN explains here that it’s not a true earthquake happening at CenturyLink Field, but crowd generated shaking that can’t be measured by magnitude on a Richter Scale. However, all that shaking energy added up from a long Beast Quake run “would come out to be the equivalent of a very small natural earthquake.”
