Human remains found last week in Lake Stevens have been identified as an Everett teen reported missing in November.

Snohomish County detectives believe Summer Francis Smith’s death was the result of a homicide, but the exact cause of death is still pending from the medical examiner.

Smith’s body was found in the 12000 block of 7th Pl SE. Investigators say Smith lived in Everett and regularly used public transportation. She was last seen in the Everett area two months ago.

Smith’s mother was quoted on the I Have a Name Project Facebook page, “Summer came into this world early and was taken far too soon” She went onto say. “My daughter has a name. I don’t want her life to be forgotten.”

Anyone with information about Smith or who she might have associated with is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 425-388-3845.
