Seahawks playoff tickets far more ‘affordable’ than last year’s NFC Championship

Whether it’s because the Seahawks are returning to the NFC Championship for a second straight year or because the game isn’t against their arch-rival like last year, ticket prices on the secondary market for Sunday’s game are far more affordable than last year – relatively speaking.

The average price for tickets to the NFC Championship against the Packers is around $400 from resellers, according to online ticket site SeatGeek.

“It’s obviously not a bargain per se, but it’s a lot cheaper than they were this time last year for the 49ers NFC Championship game,” says SeatGeek analyst Connor Gregoire.

Ticket prices were about $100 higher across the board for last year’s battle with the 49ers, and you were hard pressed to find any for less than $400.

Tickets in the highest corners of CenturyLink Field were selling for as low as $325 for scattered bleacher and standing room only single seats Tuesday afternoon. Scoring a pair of tickets or more together starts at $400.

Seats in the Hawks Nest above the north end zone were going for $440 and up as of Tuesday afternoon, while a spot on the lower level starts at $620 and goes up dramatically the closer you get to the 50-yard-line.

If money is no object, you can score a sweet seat in a suite for $3,500 and up.

Average prices have already fallen about $100 since Sunday when the Packers secured a return trip to Seattle. Gregoire predicts they’ll continue to drop, in stark contrast to last year.

“The market was very constant and stable throughout the week last year. Demand was high from Monday all the way to kickoff,” he says.

Although the ticket prices are off from last year’s highs, they’re still far more than the AFC Championship between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts in Foxboro, Mass.

The average price for Sunday’s game in suburban Boston is $400, $200 less than Seattle. And tickets were selling for as low as $250.
