Tom Tangney speaks with Al Pacino about ‘The Irishman’

Nov 27, 2019, 11:18 AM

The 209-minute Martin Scorsese epic The Irishman opened in theaters earlier this month, and now it’s available for all Netflix subscribers to see. Here’s a link to my review.

As I’ve mentioned before, Netflix flew about a hundred critics down to Los Angeles for the Hollywood premiere of The Irishman. The day after the screening, we all gathered for a question-and-answer session with Martin Scorsese, Robert DeNiro, and Al Pacino. I was one of only a handful of film critics allowed to ask a question of the high-powered trio.

Since I would only get a single question, I decided to broaden the focus a bit. Al Pacino couldn’t wait to answer the question.

In other words, it sounds like Mr. Pacino would have liked to play both parts. And who could blame him?
