Seattle is celebrating this Blue Friday like it’s the last, but fingers crossed it’s not.

KIRO 7 attended a rally in Renton On Friday afternoon.

Most visible might be the the giant 12 flag that Seahawks legend Cliff Avril hoisted atop the Space Needle. The flag will remain flying above the Seattle landmark through Sunday when the Seahawks take on Green Bay at Lambeau Field.

“Am I afraid of heights? No, it’s not that bad because it’s bigger than I expected it to be,” Avril told the Seahawks reporter. “I actually thought up here had glass floors, too. That would have freaked me out a little bit I think.”

Avril has raised the 12 flag at CenturyLink Field. This was his first time raising it atop the Space Needle.

Seahawks-Packers rivalry has some memorable games — these are the top 5

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich made a friendly wager on Wednesday. In addition to some volunteer work to benefit organizations of their choosing, the two mayors wagered beer, cheese, and coffee.

If the Packers win, Durkan will send Genrich two growlers from Georgetown Brewing, some Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, and two bags of coffee from Cafe Avole. If the Seahawks win, Genrich will send Durkan beer from Stillmank Brewing, cheese curds from Ron’s Wisconsin Cheese, and coffee from La Java Roasting House.

“Our Seahawks are the best team in the NFL, and with Beast Mode back, there’s no way we can be stopped,” Mayor Durkan said.

And let’s not forget about our finned friends at the Seattle Aquarium. A SCUBA diver will don a Seahawks jersey while fish get to explore a Seahawks helmet. A Seahawks flag will fly in the window of the Washington Waters exhibit.
