If you’ve traveled the world selling your books, it can’t be easy to settle on one place, especially for eternity. But travel guru Rick Steves does have a spot he’d like to rest in peace.
KIRO Radio’s John Curley asked him where he’d want his ashes scattered last week at an AARP event in Seattle.
The question appeared to have caught Steves off guard.
“The beach in Edmonds,” he joked.
He calls the sleepy Washington town his home. His business is also headquartered in Edmonds.
But seriously, Steves answered Cinque Terre, a rugged region of the Italian Riveria.
“The most beautiful view in each of those towns is the cemetery high above the hill … It’s right there looking out over the Mediterranean with the grapevine corduroy and the water is twinkling,” Steves recalled for Curley.
He said he’d love to sit up there and watch the little boats, tourists, and activity down below for the rest of time.
