Boil-water advisory issued for Pierce County community

People who live in the Lake of the Woods Community Club in northwestern Pierce County are urged to boil their drinking water after E. coli was detected in the water system.
The bacteria was found in the water Friday in a sample collected for routine water monitoring.
The water system serves 324 homes with a population close to 900 people.
The State Department of Health is working to try to find the source of contamination and eliminate it.
Residents should boil water they use for drinking, preparing food, washing dishes, brushing teeth or making ice.
Two boil-water advisories were recently issued for Mercer Island after E. coli was found in that water system. The advisory forced businesses to close their doors.
