Father was following daughter on I-5 ahead of fatal crash

Based on witness reports, investigators suspect two cars were racing ahead of a crash on I-5 in Everett Friday afternoon that killed a woman and left her passenger with life-threatening injuries.

The father of Jourdan Bradley, 24, told KIRO TV his daughter was not racing. He was about eight car lengths behind her blue Corvette as they were headed to her Everett home with a leather couch.

He didn’t see what happened until returning to the scene.

“He got to their destination, not sure where it was, realized hey, she should have beat me home,” Trooper Mark Francis told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson Show. “That’s when he told our sergeant that he remembered seeing this blue streak go across I-5 in front of him.”

Mark Bradley insisted his daughter is cautious and won’t engage other drivers in races.

But the Washington State Patrol said it’s still conducting speed analysis and has yet to track down a white SUV or pickup truck one witness reported was racing the Corvette.

Trooper Francis said witnesses aren’t always accurate, but the scene was about the length of a football field even after the Corvette struck a tree. And damage to the car leads investigators to believe her car was moving faster than the posted speed limit.

“It is possible the crash is a result of road rage. It’s not clear yet if she was forced off the road, but an initial investigation suggests there was no contact between the cars,” Francis said.
