Missing hiker found near Snoqualmie Pass after surviving several nights alone

Rescue crews have found a 21-year-old hiker missing since Monday near Snoqualmie Pass, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Search and rescue personnel in a sheriff’s helicopter spotted Paula Reuter about 2:50 p.m. and lowered rescuers to her.

Reuter was reunited with her family later Thursday afternoon. A sheriff’s office spokesman says Reuter was in good shape, eating mushrooms and building a fire to stay warm.

The experienced hiker was with her two black and white dogs Monday in the Mason Lake or Ira Spring trail area, where her car was found.

Search and rescue volunteers were notified Tuesday evening that Reuter was missing. Crews began searching the area Wednesday morning.
