T-Mobile CEO apologizes for ‘rape’ comment in Seattle presentation

T-Mobile CEO John Legere is known for being unapologetically outspoken and profane, but the head of the Bellevue-based company is now saying he’s sorry for saying rival carriers are “raping” customers with their charges.
The comment came during Legere’s big T-Mobile presentation Wednesday night at Seattle’s Paramount Theater, where he blasted AT&T and Verizon for their rates in a profanity-laced tirade.
“These high and mighty duopolists that are raping you for every penny you have,” he said. “The [expletive] hate you.”
Today, Legere took to Twitter to apologize:

Legere is credited with leading T-Mobile to record growth thanks to a series of initiatives that have shaken up the industry, including unlimited data. He’s believed to be in line to lead a combined company of Sprint and T-Mobile if a widely rumored effort to merge the companies wins approval of government regulators.
