Seattle police are beefing up patrols downtown after several recent shootings.

“As police work to determine any connection between these recent incidents, SPD is using all available resources to investigate these cases and prevent further bouts of gun violence.”

The department said it has assigned SWAT and other resources to bolster visible patrols in areas around Rainier Beach, Othello Park, and the Central District.

In the most recent shooting on Thursday night, officers were called to the 400 block of Rainier Avenue South where they found evidence of more than 50 rounds fired from a high-powered rifle and two handguns. Five vehicles and five businesses were struck by gunfire in an apparent drive-by shooting shortly after 11 p.m. No injuries were reported.

On Wednesday evening about the same time, officers discovered as many as 60 rounds fired from a high-powered rifle and two handguns near an apartment complex in the 9200 block of 56th Avenue S. The complex is about a block away from the scene of Thursday night’s shooting. No damage was discovered.

Police are also investigating a shooting at Othello Park in South Seattle where gunfire exchange left one woman with shrapnel wounds.

Four recent shootings in the Central District left three men dead and another man with critical injuries.

If you have any information about any of these shootings, Seattle police ask you call the violent crimes tip line at (206) 233-5000.
