What will the message be post-Trump recovery?

What I think has been disturbing in all of this is the so-called tolerant Progressives were all about taking COVID seriously and being respectful. But now when you go on Twitter, and you see all these messages where they hope he dies or they point out that they certainly hope he gets better – clearly a throw-away line – they’re basically chanting, “I told you so, I told you so.”
I don’t know if that’s the best response, because assuming President Trump’s symptoms remain mild and he bounces back strong, which everyone should pray for, the message is going to be that the virus isn’t that bad. Whether the message is delivered that way or is perceived that way, from a public health standpoint, that could be problematic. But it’s also a good reminder that it’s not the deadliest virus that we’ve ever had and getting it is not a death sentence.
I do think we can take from this a pathway – a responsible pathway – to reopening parts of the economy and our schools.
