The mini-documentary features local Seattle advocates for subway systems as projects continue to tunnel under Seattle. One such advocate is Seattle Subway which promotes the expansion of light rail in the region.

We believe that people have a right not to spend their lives sitting in traffic…We can’t build our way out with roads. Seattle is at a stage in its growth as a city that if we want to not just trap people in their cars, we have to build them a way around that. Usually, that means underground.
– Jon Cracolici, Transit Activist with Seattle Subway

The ULink line is one such system that is set expand light rail service to The University District this month.

The video is part of the Van Alen Sessions, a series of short documentaries about current debates on city infrastructure across the nation. It is produced by the Van Alen Institute, with help from “The Atlantic” and CityLab.
