Washington ski resorts to get much needed snow

Jan 8, 2014, 4:37 PM | Updated: 5:25 pm

The Summit at Snoqualmie Pass only needs one more foot of snow to (finally) open.

Spokesperson Guy Lawrence says they’re crossing their fingers snow in the forecast will let them open this weekend.

“Some of the quantities are a little unknown, so we’re just kind of hoping and looking at the skies and doing our dances,” said Lawrence.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a winter weather advisory for the central Cascades (Snoqualmie, Stevens, and White passes and Mount Baker) through Thursday afternoon.

Forecasters say up to 10 inches of snow is expected to fall overnight.

KING-5 Meteorologist Lisa Van Cise says The Summit may be too low in elevation to get any snow this time, but there’s another system moving in Saturday that could benefit the ski resort.

Along with snow, Van Cise says you can expect windy conditions in the passes and the lowlands, so take it easy when you’re behind the wheel.
