A Seattle resident decided to take the police department’s own data to find out where parking violations are most commonly called in to 911. If you live, or often park, in Ballard, Fremont or Wallingford it may come as bad news.

Those are the three areas in Seattle where police were called the most for parking-related offenses, according to a informational map created by Seattleite Andy Klatt.

The Queen Anne and Magnolia neighborhoods came in second, followed by neighborhoods around Capitol Hill which saw the next highest number of calls. Downtown Seattle, Eastlake, Westlake and nearby areas all also saw considerable levels of parking problems. In fact, aside from fewer calls around the University District, Roosevelt, and Ravenna, the number of parking calls seem to decrease the further south in Seattle one looks.

Klatt, who took the information and turned it into an infographic, also broke the calls down by day: Wednesdays and Fridays saw the most, with Thursday close behind. Sunday had the fewest.

Time of day was also a factor. More calls are generally made between 8 a.m. and noon. The number spikes to the second highest between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

It seems more-and-more Seattleites are calling 911 for parking offenses each year. More calls were made in 2015 than in the past five years. In fact, aside from a drop in 2013, the number of calls has steadily increased since 2010.

Klatt’s map of Seattle’s parking offenses can be found here, and is interactive.
