The Pioneer Square shooting that left two men dead Wednesday was not random, police say.

Investigators believe the men were specifically targeted.

One man was declared dead at the scene of the shooting in the 400 block of Second Avenue Ext South. A second died later at Harborview Medical Center.

Police say several people called 911 around 5:30 a.m. to report hearing gunshots. Officers from the West Precinct responded and found two men lying on the ground.

“One of the victims was obviously deceased, and the other man had life-threatening injuries,” the department reports.
