Seattle’s 12th Man is one of the most intimidating fan bases in the NFL, according to Sports Illustrated.

Sports Illustrated posted the results of a player’s poll, ranking NFL fans according to how “intimidating” they are.

Seattle’s fans ranked fourth on the list of most intimidating fans. At the top of the list were Philadelphia Eagles fans, followed by Pittsburgh Steelers fans, Raiders fans, then Seahawks fans.

KIRO Radio’s John Curley says he’s surprised to see typically passive Seattleites listed among the most intimidating fans.

“This doesn’t seem like it should fit the MO of the people that live around here,” said Curley.

But co-host Tom Tangney explains it’s not like Seahawks fans are mean fans, they’re just loud.

“I don’t think we’re jerks in the stands. We just are the loudest, most active, and so the most disruptive,” says Tom. “I can imagine from the point of view from somebody coming in to play us at CenturyLink Field that they would be really disruptive fans.”

New Orleans Saints fans rounded out the top five. Take a look at the whole list of intimidating fans here.
