Report: Amanda Knox would like to, but won’t return to Italy for trial

Sep 16, 2013, 6:43 AM | Updated: 9:48 am

Amanda Knox will not be heading back to Italy this month to stand trial for murder for a third time, but it’s not because she fears she will be found guilty.

The former University of Washington student said she would like the chance to face her accusers, but she is worried the Italian Police would throw her in prison without reason.

Knox gave her first interview since the decision to try her for a third time to the The Sun, which the New York Post reprinted. She said she didn’t want to distract from the evidence by appearing in court.

Knox said her every movement in court was interpreted and used by the prosecution during her first trial when she was convicted of killing her British roommate Meredith Kercher.

Knox spent four years in prison before her conviction was overturned. She said she’s seen a counselor and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and panic attacks because of her experiences.

Her hope for this third trial is that she will be found innocent and no one will question the verdict.
