$15 SeaTac minimum wage petition tossed by judge

A King County judge has thrown out the petition to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour in the City of SeaTac.
Judge Andrea Darvas ruled late Monday that the petition does not have enough valid signatures to be included on the ballot. Sixty-one people signed the petition more than once. Under state law, the duplicates and the originals must be thrown out.
The SeaTac blog reports that if the 61 original signatures were allowed to stay on the petition, it would have qualified for the ballot.
Judge Darvas has ordered SeaTac to not send the petition to King County elections.
Supporters gathered more than 2,500 signatures. They only needed 1,541 for it to be included on the ballot.
