Another cyclist has fallen victim to a hit-and-run driver in Bellevue.
The cyclist, Dan Scarf, was wearing a Go-Pro camera last week when a dark-colored pickup came up from behind and hit him, then kept driving. Fortunately, there were witnesses to help him out.
Scarf says he broke his hip from the accident.
Seth Tyler, spokesperson with the Bellevue Police Department, says the high definition video helps in the investigation, but that police only got a partial description of the license plate. With the recent warm weather, plus the fact that May is Cycle to Work month, Tyler says there will be even more bikes to be aware of on the road.
“Cyclists are entitled to the full lane width so you may see cyclists in your lane so you need to give them enough room, allow them plenty of room as you pass them,” he said.
Last month, a North Bend woman was nearly killed in a hit-and-run while she was biking on the lake-to-lake trail near I-90 in Bellevue. All police were left with was a broken headlight to try and track down the driver. Police are still searching for that vehicle.
The most recent accident occurs about one minute and 58 seconds into the video above.
