Available at Amazon.com today: a set of knives for $100, 30 percent off a digital camera and a framed Monet for $2.5 million. Just add it to the shopping cart.

First, the Seattle-based online retailer got into the wine business, now it’s selling paintings.

Amazon.com/art will offer 40,000 items from 150 galleries and dealers from New York to San Francisco, Seattle and around the world. The site will feature high quality images and detailed information, according to a press release.

To start, the online store will offer selections from 4,500 artists.

The Monet comes from Heather James Fine Art. But you don’t have to pay a million dollars. Amazon Art has plenty of selections of original art as affordable as a set of knives.
