The FAA ordered the removal or inspection of the Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT) on Boeing 787’s on Thursday, and already more planes are showing up damaged wiring.

All Nippon Airways said it has found pinched or damaged wires inside two of its ELTs.

Damaged wiring inside those emergency beacons are being looked at as the cause of the fire inside and Ethiopian Airlines 787 two weeks ago. The wires were pinched when the cover on the unit was installed.

The beacons are made by Honeywell and delivered complete to airlines. There are more than 6,000 of them in use across the world today.
