Snohomish might charge man with harassing 911

Jul 25, 2013, 6:00 AM | Updated: 7:40 am

Making bogus calls to 911 is against the law, but very few people ever get busted. A Snohomish man, though, might be one of the first to face criminal charges for harassing dispatchers.

The 46-year-old has made nearly 50 harassing calls to Snohomish County 911 dispatchers in the last few weeks. He made 20 calls to 911 on one night alone.

The Herald reports he was often drunk and made threats against the dispatchers and police.

The police say he has mental health issues, but that doesn’t excuse his behavior. The chief is seeking criminal harassment charges against the man, who has been warned several times to stop the calls.

The charges would be misdemeanors, if they are filed.
