Gunshots were fired in Bonney Lake while an officer was responding to a call about a car Wednesday morning.
The Bonney Lake officer was called to a parking lot at 198th and SR 410. At 9:08 a.m., the officer called out on the radio that shots had been fired, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said.
In a press release from the Pierce County Force Investigation Team, it’s reported that video obtained by detectives from the Speedway Express gas station shows the officer contacting the occupants of the vehicle on foot. The vehicle later struck the officer. Shortly thereafter, the officer fired their weapon and the suspect vehicle fled the area.
Detectives are still searching for the car and following up on leads.
It is not yet known whether anyone in the car was hit by the gunfire, but a tweet from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said the officer involved is OK.
