Tuesday will be Pacific Mayor Cy Sun’s last day on the job. Nineteen months after winning the election as a write-in candidate, Mayor Sun will be kicked out of office.

Mayor Sun swept into office in a 2011 election when less than half the registered voters cast a ballot for mayor.

He won by a few votes.

Less than half of the 3,000 registered voters in the small town on the King-Pierce County line voted in the June 25 recall, but 65 percent of them voted to kick him out of office.

The election will be certified at noon.

Mayor Sun’s time on the job has been highlighted by the firing of all the city managers, including several police chiefs, arrests at city hall, and the near disincorporation of the city because its insurance carrier refused to cover it while Mayor Sun was in office.

The 83-year-old mayor has not been heard from publicly since the election.
