Seattle police want to know why a man dressed his pet pig in sweatpants and then left it in a sweltering car while he drank at a bar Saturday night.

Officers discovered a lethargic pot-bellied pig, along with a small, panting dog inside the man’s filthy car parked on W. Bertona St and Gilman Ave W.

“There was no food or water or anything for the animals, and there was quite a bit of feces in the vehicle,” said Seattle Police Detective Renee Witt.

Witt said the man had gone down the street to a Magnolia bar for about 45 minutes, leaving the keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked.

Officers say it was in the mid-80s that night and was likely hotter inside the car. They opened a door and got the animals some water to help cool them off.

Not only did officers remind the man that it’s illegal to leave the keys in the ignition of an unattended car, but told him not to leave his pets in an unventilated space without food and water.

Renton Animal Control is investigating.
