Redmond police officer suing department for $3 million

May 9, 2013, 9:35 AM | Updated: 10:24 am

A Redmond police officer with a bright start to her career is now suing the department for $3 million.

At age 25, Marcella Fogg went undercover at Redmond High School for a drug sting that led to the arrest of eleven students.

Her attorney says other officers, jealous of her assignment, created a story about her having an affair with a teenage boy she was mentoring.

“These people somehow concocted this story, literally fabricated out of thin air this story to damage Marcella’s career to hurt her,” Fogg’s attorney Robert Kim tells KING 5.

Fogg believes other officers took their jealousy out on her. He says in one instance, she didn’t get the backup she needed during a domestic violence call.

“She’s in a very vulnerable situation when there are tons of people around and she’s there by herself and this guy’s sitting in his squad car eating fruit.”

Kim says Fogg was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing involving the teen. She is now filing a claim against the department for harassment and retaliation.

Last week, Fogg was put on paid administrative leave as she’s being investigated for three alleged counts of misconduct, including one incident of communicating with the teen she’d been mentoring after being told to stop involvement.

Redmond Police are not commenting.
