A man is dead after a shooting led to a crash on Wednesday night in Maple Valley.

Deputies were called to the 18600 block of Renton-Maple Valley Road Southeast.

Investigators said it is unclear exactly where and how the shooting occurred.

A man who was at a bar across the street from where a car crashed told KIRO 7 he heard gunshots and rushed out to help.

“I heard a crack, crack, crack and the next thing I know I run out to see what’s going on and there was an accident on the road. When I ran up on it there was a young man that was down in his seat and there was a girl that was very distraught,” Curtis Fowler said.

The investigation was put on hold for a short time while Puget Sound Energy stabilized a power pole hit by the car.

The crash also knocked out power to the bar across the street.

Renton-Maple Valley Road Southeast and State Route 169 were closed between Cedar Grove Road and Maxwell Road for the investigation.
