352-acre wildfire near Gold Bar 10 percent contained

GOLD BAR, Wash. — Fire officials say a wildfire near Gold Bar burning on federal land is now about 10 percent contained.
The wildfire grew to 325 acres overnight into Saturday, KIRO 7 reports. Residents of about a dozen homes were told to be prepared to leave if needed. On Sunday, fire officials said with better mapping, a more accurate acreage for the fire was 352. The fire did not grow overnight into Sunday.
No homes have been lost and no injuries have been reported.
Evacuation notices for 12 homes on the south side of State Highway 2 between 437th Drive southeast and 439th Drive southeast fell from level two to level one late Saturday night.
A level one evacuation notice for residents in Big Bend was lifted Saturday evening.
All level 1 evacuation levels have been lifted for the Big Bend Community N. of SR 2, 437th and 439th ST downgraded to level 1 “advisory.”
The Snohomish County Fire District 7 says the blaze is burning in steep terrain on U.S. Forest Service land near Gold Bar, which is 45 miles northeast of Seattle.
Fire crews are also battling a wildfire burning near the town of Oso, about 70 miles northeast Seattle. That fire began Thursday in a logging area and is burning in steep terrain. The wildfire near Oso, being called the #HotShotFire is 20 percent contained.
Currently the fire is not advancing. It is smoldering and creeping, according to Snohomish fire officials. The winds were blowing Saturday in a northwest direction.
Late Friday night, fire officials issued a level 2 evacuation notice. Level 2 evacuations means residents are advised to be ready to leave the area.
Overnight, a level 3 evacuation notice was issued to residents on the south side of highway 2 between 437th Dr. SE and 439th Dr. SE.
An evacuation shelter is in place at Sultan Middle School. There is still currently a level 1 evacuation notice to residents in the Big Bend community.
Crews from Snohomish County Fire District 26, Fire District 7, Fire District 3, Getchell Fire, Fire District 28, Duvall Fire, Forest Service and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office are helping with the fire.
