911 tape: Father confesses to shooting adult children as they slept

A Puyallup man has pleaded not guilty to shooting his two adult children in the head as they slept.

Michael P. League, 69, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in the case.

Prosecutors say he shot his children, 46-year-old Dennis League and 43-year-old Danielle Faucett, on Sunday because he couldn’t stand to live with them anymore.

In a 911 tape obtained by KIRO Radio, League tells the dispatcher he just committed a “father’s worst sin.”

“There were apparently a lot of problems inside the house; alcohol, drugs, domestic violence, mental health issues,” said Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. “But I can’t imagine why the defendant thought a double homicide was the solution.”

“I just shot my daughter in the head and my son in the head,” League told a 911 dispatcher.

League threatened to commit suicide, but the dispatcher convinced him to put the gun down before police arrived.

The daughter died at the scene. The son remained on life support Monday evening, but Lindquist said he is not expected to live.
