3 Bellevue PD officers on paid leave after fatal shooting

Three Bellevue police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after they shot and killed a robbery suspect in Seattle Friday.
The Bellevue Police Department identified the officers Monday as Casey Hiam, Jacob Bement, and Jacob Childers.
Paid administrative leave is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings.
The shooting occurred around 5 a.m. Friday morning when Bellevue SWAT officers, with the assistance of the Seattle Police Department, served a search warrant at a home in the Columbia City neighborhood.
Officer Carla Iafrate with Bellevue PD said their team was approaching the home near 42nd Avenue South and South Hudson Street when a man in a tan Mercedes noticed the officers, tried to reverse, ran into a truck, and then put the car in drive.
According to the Seattle PD, the officers shot and killed the suspect after he ignored several demands to stop the car.
He died after being transported Harborview Medical Center.
Police said the man was suspected in a series of robberies in both Bellevue and Seattle.
The Seattle Police Department has been asked to investigate the shooting.
Iafrate said Officer Hiam, an eight year veteran of the department, was involved in a shooting in 2009. According to the department, Hiam shot and killed a suspect who charged at him with a knife. An investigation found the shooting to be justified.
