Tuba man killer to do serious time

One of the three men convicted of killing Seattle street musician Ed “Tuba Man” McMichael will be spending the next few years in federal prison.
Billy Chambers, 20, pleaded guilty to gun possession last week and will be sentenced to six years in federal prison.
“Chambers admitted that he drove two other people over to a house where they sell guns with the intent of stealing guns from the home,” Emily Langlie with the US Attorney’s Office in Seattle said.
Langlie said Chambers was put in the federal system under a new policy to charge some local gun possession cases in federal court.
Chambers and two other men received light sentences in juvenile detention after the 2008 beating death of McMichael. All three have had multiple run-ins with police since getting out.
Chambers served 22 months in prison for intentionally ramming a woman’s car in 2011.
Fellow Tuba Man murderer Ja’Mari Jones is suspected in the Christmas Eve murder inside Bellevue’s Munchbar. Kenneth Kelly is serving 2 1/2 years on a weapons charge.
