Fourteen charges of child pornography have been dismissed against a former Capital Playhouse Theater interim artistic director, according to The Olympian.

Thurston County Superior Court Judge Christine Schaller ruled that evidence in the case was obtained without a search warrant and therefore inadmissible.

A detective with the Olympia Police Department allegedly recovered the pornographic images on Troy Fisher’s computer in July 2012. Fisher had been reported missing by his family and police were called in to look for evidence that could help locate him.

Fisher turned up safe two days later, but the detective continued to search his computer and found the images, which resulted in his arrest.

Fisher was embraced by supporters after the charges were dismissed Monday.

He said he never knowingly downloaded child pornography and looked forward to teaching music to children again in the future.

A spokesperson for the Olympia Police Department said the agency has no immediate plans to release a statement on the ruling.
