How Seattle makes all those parking signs, and what happens to the old ones

The Seattle Department of Transportation recently posted an online tour of its sign department on its blog. The sign shop makes all the signs instructing drivers of speed limits, how long they can park before getting a ticket, and much more.
The shop previous used a screen printing method to mass produced the signs, but it recently converted to a digital method. The shop has been using the digital method for about six months — places vinyl material on metal and is good for at least 10 years.
Seattle also has a plan for all its old signs. Seattleites can purchase old signs for $5-15.
