A armed man barricaded himself in a Renton home before starting a fire early Monday, officials said.
Police responded around 3:14 a.m. for reports of a barricaded subject with a gun. Family members told police that a man in the family went to an upstairs bedroom with a gun.
When they heard gunshots, the family called 911. Police quickly evacuated the house and several homes nearby.
Shortly after, police heard an alarm coming from the house and saw smoke coming from the upstairs.
Police believe the man started a fire on the second floor which then spread quickly throughout the house.
The subject later exited the house and was taken into custody without incident.
