Organizers of The Evergreen State Fair in Monroe say, despite the increase in COVID cases, this year’s fair will go on, but with a few changes for the health and safety of the community.

Skagit County Fair brings sense of ‘normalcy’ with precautions

The fair will limit daily capacity, as well as reduce the number of vendors in order to provide more space around the park. Fairgoers are encouraged to wear masks outdoors and required to wear one indoors. The fair also is encouraging everyone to practice social distancing and wash their hands regularly, and for all fairgoers to evaluate their own potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 before visiting.

Since the fair was cancelled in 2020, this year’s theme is “Back In The Saddle Again.”

“This year’s theme: ‘Back in the Saddle Again – Open for Fun in 2021’ is all about dusting oneself off after the challenging ride that was the last year and a half, and the anticipation of safely reuniting members of the community and fans of the Fair after making it through 2020 together,” reads a release from fair organizers.

Historic ‘Purple Cow’ returns in August along with the Evergreen State Fair

The fair runs from Aug. 26 through Sept. 6, but will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 1. The ticket booth opens daily at 10 a.m., and the gates are open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the fair, except Sept. 6 when hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
