Nearly three dozen elementary school students found themselves on a bumpy ride Tuesday morning as their bus slid out of control.

The bus driver lost control on some ice while making a turn, and the bus ended up in a ditch.

“Fortunately, none of the 34 kids on board were injured,” said Kent Fire Captain Kyle Ohashi. “The bus driver is OK, although she was a little shaken up by this.”

The kids were on their way to Millennium Elementary.

Students had to be removed via the driver’s side emergency exit because the main door was blocked.

A second bus was brought in to get the children to school.
