Heavy snow dumping in mountain passes

Snow lovers rejoice as drivers are cursing the latest system rolling over the Cascade Mountains.
Forecasters expect another 10 to 20 inches of snow to fall Friday in the Cascades on top of the 1 to 2 feet of snow that has fallen in the last two days.

The National Weather Service, which has forecast 18 inches to three feet of new snow by Friday afternoon, has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 4:00 pm Friday. It says that new snow is in addition to the one to three feet that fell Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Heaviest accumulations will be at Mount Baker.
KING 5’s Rich Marriott says the snow level may drop to 1,500 feet at Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes late Friday.
The Transportation Department required chains on all vehicles early Friday on Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass. Traction tires are also required in both directions of Stevens Pass.
With colder temperatures in Eastern Washington, the Weather Service said some snow would likely accumulate Friday on lower elevations in the eastern third of the state, including Spokane.
