It’s only been three weeks since the last election, but the 2013 race for Seattle Mayor is underway.

Seattle City Councilman Tim Burgess began his campaign Tuesday by filing paperwork with the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission.

He made the announcement and went live with his election website too.

The 63-year-old councilmemeber grew up in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, went to the University of Washington and spent eight years as a Seattle Police officer.

He gave the first interview of his campaign to The Stranger. It’s a paper that, Dominic Holden writes, sharply disagrees with [Burgess’] establishment base.

Mayor Mike McGinn began his re-election campaign in August, while real-estate broker Charlie Staadecker announced candidacy in September.
