One dead after off-roaders’ vehicle falls off cliff

An off-road crash near Mount Rainier has left one man dead.
The vehicle reportedly went off a cliff in an off-road area near Mount Rainier.
“This vehicle went over a cliff and rolled probably 20, 25 times down,” says Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.
Troyer says the driver hiked out 8 miles barefoot after the crash, believing his friend was still trapped in the vehicle.
When rescuers arrived, they couldn’t locate the man in the vehicle.
“The passenger was missing from the vehicle so that gave us some hope that he may have walked out trying to get some help,” says Troyer. “But unfortunately after a short search they found a blood trail to the body of the man who was deceased.”
The man who died was a 23-year-old from Auburn. Investigators are still looking into what led up to the crash.
