Metro apologizes over smelly diaper, mother wants to sue

Oct 19, 2012, 6:40 AM | Updated: 9:08 am

Metro Transit has apologized to the woman who was kicked off a bus because her little boy had a stinky diaper, but the mother wants more.

An administrator with the King County bus agency made a phone call to the mother to offer the apology.

However, Nicole Hakimian tells KOMO TV she doesn’t want an apology, she plans to hire a lawyer. She says she was unfairly told to get off the bus with a sick child in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Hakimian had complained to Metro on Wednesday that the bus driver told her the smell was unbearable. She was asked to get off the bus, even though Hakimian says she told the driver she was taking her child to a doctor appointment.

Metro’s operations manager Jim O’Rourke says the driver probably should have found out that the woman was getting off in just two more stops. But the driver will not face discipline. Metro rules allow a driver to remove passengers with hygiene problems.
