Woman finds explosive device while getting gas at Auburn Fred Meyer

Police say a woman in Auburn found an improvised explosive device in the fuel hatch of her car while stopping for gas at a Fred Meyer on Wednesday.
The woman called for help and the area near the gas station at 801 Auburn Way North was temporarily blocked off while a bomb squad responded.
Auburn police called in the Federal Way bomb squad. The bomb squad moved the device to a clear area of the parking lot, and the device was neutralized.
Police Cmdr. Mike Hirman says officers confirmed the item was an improvised explosive device, IED.
After the device was neutralized, the area was reopened. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Auburn Police are investigating. They say they have no reason to believe at this time that it was a random act.
